DO YOU KNOW HIM?
Do you know your husband? This question may sound foolish
but it’s a marriage stabilizer.
1 Samuel 25:25 “Let not my Lord, I pray thee, regard this
man of Be’lial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name and
folly is with him” but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom
thou didst send.
This is
Abigail defending her husband from calamity/ wrath of his behavior towards king
David. If Abigail didn’t know the character of her husband, it is certain that
David would have killed the two of them at once.
Like Abigail, beloved, study and know
the character and emotions of your husband among other things, the right time
to approach him for discussions and the nature of issues to be discussed.
Study his temperaments, is he the easily fed up type, get
crossed easily, quick to jump and conclusions, is he the listening type, or the
talking type, does he respond to issues on time or at his convenience? Is he
comfortable with noise around him or he loves quiet atmosphere?
Abigail, knowing her husband’s foolishness and arrogance,
successfully coped with him. Abigail in her days knew when to talk to Nabal and
when not move close to him for discussions.
With the study of Abigail and Nabal, many women nowadays will
not tolerate or would have divorced him, yet she kept cool in the Lord praying
and acting when necessary.
Beloved, you are already married to him, sit, study and pray
for him, and you’ll see God’s intervention.
Abigail kept her husband, are you keeping yours, sure you
can keep him/
Receive god’s divine grace to keep your husband.
Prayer: keeper of His own; help me and give me grace to keep
my husband, in Jesus’ name.
